Day 1 at the gym

Hi all,

I started working out at a gym since yesterday and did the following exercises.

Well, since my last post was a long time ago, people reading this would have come to know by now that it was a one day resolution.

Clearly I lack motivation. So I decided to join a group class sessions.

I reached the gym in the morning and met with my trainer. Since it’s a group session there were others already in there.

I was introduced to everyone and we started with warm up.

It was approximately for 8mins and then we started doing the following exercises.

The exercises were divided into 2 parts. Each had 6 different exercises in it and to be done for 45sec. We start with the 1st, do how much ever repetitions we can for 45secs and then move on to the next exercise.

We did 3 sets of this. After which 2-3 mins rest and then move on to the next set of exercises.

The following are the exercises we did. I don’t remember what each of them is called by I wil try my best to describe.

1. Sit and pull a handle like a rowing machine. Except I wasn’t moving. I have no idea what it’s called.

2. Pull the handle and do lunges

3. Something with weights. Front raise and then over head

4. Side lunges

5. Gorilla squat weight pull. Come in the gorilla position which looks like deep squat and pull lift dumbbell placed in front of you. One at a time

6. Step up on a stool, raise one leg and get it down on the side and do a squat and climb back up.

I tried to do it as much as I can. Had difficult with lower body exercise’s especially the gorilla squat. Phew.

Then after a 3 min break we went on to the next set.

1. First was the normal lunges which could be made difficult with weights. I went with the simplest and the easiest lunges

2. Then I did weights. Forward and side raise

3. High plank and move to elbow plank. And then back again. I couldn’t do much here.

4. Prisoner squat. Which is basically squat, go to knees like prisoner and raise back to squat and straighten up.

5. Weight lift by lying on a bench. One at the time bringing the hands to the side

6. Something like deadlift. But with dumbbell

Well, all these made me exhausted.

I ate 2 nuts bar and cappuccino for breakfast and lots of water

For lunch I had chicken curry with rice.

Snacks I had some chickpeas baked chips and black coffee

Dinner was khichdi(dal and rice) with 1.5eggs.

All in all the day went great. And felt sore throughout the day and felt exhausted with pain in the night.

I have booked a stretching session for tomorrow but since it’s raining a lot here so not sure if I will be able to make it to the gym.
